Volunteer Committees
Advance and Sustain the Work of EMCC by Joining a Board Committee:

Volunteer after school
After-School Program Volunteers Will:
- Assist with homework
- Reading skills
- Other school work
- Instruct in the use of computers as a learning tool
- Provide musical activities (lead singing, teach use of instruments, etc.)
- Volunteers will work with Children 6-12 years
- Youth volunteers may require training and background check.
We need volunteers who are free 3:30 pm – 6 pm weekdays, early September through late May

Volunteer at the food pantry
Our pantry is open daily on weekdays and serves thousands of our neighbors each year. Pantry volunteers may:
- stock shelves
- unpack deliveries and donations
- assist with special projects
- provide direct service

Edna Martin Christian Center began in 1941 when Edna Martin, a 43-year-old trailblazer, rented a one-room apartment and started a daycare to support families. She fed children, taught them about Jesus, helped parents with life skills, and inspired others to give back. The Center grew under the American Baptist Church in 1945, and Edna continued uplifting the community until her passing in 1974.
